The Problem

The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life in the South Bronx by strengthening businesses and creating innovative economic, housing, educational, and career development programs for youth and adults.

SoBRO was seeking opportunities to save money without cutting back on any of their important programs. A lighting and ventilation upgrade to their building seemed like the perfect solution, but they knew that they needed to avoid large upfront costs as well as be sure that the project saved them energy. However, SoBRO needed to find a solution for all 7 of its commercial and mixed use buildings.

The Solution

Revoltagen knew that Efficiency-as-a-Service (EaaS) was the answer. With the help of SparkFund's capital and tools, as well as performance rebates from ConEdison, Revoltagen designed a custom LaaS program that allowed SoBRO to install high-efficiency LEDs in every corner of the campus facility with no money down. Additionally, the brand new HVAC system provided increased airflow while reducing heating and cooling costs. For one simple monthly payment, SoBRO received a turnkey efficiency retrofit as well as four years of guaranteed energy savings and ongoing maintenance and repairs.
